Dance Leadership

Back to all

We believe in the power of dance to bring people together and to improve physical and mental health. With Dance Leadership, we have the chance to use this subject to support young people to develop and be recognised for essential leadership skills that will get them ready for life.

Four young teenage dancers bending with their arms overhead in a dance class.

We know that young people’s growth and development benefits from regular physical activity. As with sports, dance has a huge impact on the self-belief, expression and self-management of the young people who take part.

With Dance Leadership, we have the opportunity to use dance as a way of supporting learners to develop the essential skills they need to plan, develop and deliver activities that bring these benefits to their communities.

Our two qualifications in Dance Leadership both offer a blend of theory and practical experience, giving learners multiple opportunities to put into practice the leadership skills they develop as part of the programme.

The qualifications can be delivered during curriculum time through PE, or can provide a structure in which to engage learners in extra-curricular activities. And dance organisations we work with often use the qualifications to formalise and recognise their more experienced students who support with mentoring and teaching their younger dancers.

Below you will find the names of the qualifications available under the Dance Leadership programme, and the full suite of specifications can be downloaded using the form at the foot of the page.

From planning and leading a dance event in their school or local community, to managing themselves and others in further education or their first job, both qualifications offer a solid foundation in the transferable skills young people need to move from education to employment.

Alumni dance leaders have gone on to inspire us with how they have used their skills, from supporting others to re-engage with the subject after they’ve lost confidence, to setting up weekly dance groups in their communities.

Dance Leaders qualifications help to equip young people with experiences that ignite their passion and gets them ready for life beyond formal education.  See below for pricing details and contact us to provide this opportunity for the young people you work with.
