Our approach to skill development

Developed by SLQ, the Skills Framework uses research undertaken by Youth Employment UK recognising five key employment skills of Communication, Self Belief, Teamwork, Self-Management, and Problem-Solving.

This framework provides a means of developing recognised behavioural skills that work for young people, education and employers.
— Laura-Jane Rawlings, Chief Exec, Youth Employment UK

The framework has built on Youth Employment UK's research to create the behaviours which support skill development.

The Skills Framework is made available for not-for-profit organisations to use and adapt when crediting to SLQ and Youth Employment UK under a Creative Commons Licence as below.

Developed in conjunction with Youth Employment UK, the Skills Framework provides the basis for behavioural skill development embedded across all SLQ qualifications.
